Your Labor is Not in Vain

When I first moved to Reston in 2021 I didn't have a place to worship. As a Lutheran Church member from Minnesota I decided to look online for Lutheran churches near me and luckily I came across Christ the Servant Lutheran Church. The current pastor, Pastor Krista, welcomed me and introduced me to the church. That first worship made me feel at home, as they showed me love just as my previous church did. The worship was comfortable and familiar, nothing strange! It was home!

I appreciate the way the members treat each other, like one family, and the sharing of their gifts like bringing snacks, coffee, and other materials as a way of welcome to be enjoyed both before and after church service.

When I embarked on God's calling to travel to Africa and share God's word with God's people and be a blessing in their lives this coming winter, I decided to share the vision with Pastor Kenny, who shared it with the congregation. Since then, I have had so many people embracing this venture by their support through finances, material goods, and other ways to make this happen. I am so grateful for the generosity from the church that clearly demonstrates the love that pours out of the house of God.

I hope and pray that the church will continue to be one in unity in order to show the next generation that no man is an "Island." I hope that we continue to do good in the community and demonstrate that we are a household of faith. I hope that our community continues to bear in mind what Paul wrote in his first letter to the Corinthians, "Therefore, my beloved siblings, be steadfast, immovable, always excelling in the work of the Lord because you know that in the Lord your labor is not in vain." -1 Corinthians 15:58
